How do I look up an Orleans Parish court case online for free?

Create an account: You need to set up an account, but looking up Orleans Parish cases is FREE. Start by clicking "Don't have a login?" under the Sign in box…
Create an account:
After you click "Don't have a login?" you can create a new account.
Type in your: Email, Account Name (you can pick anything), Password
(see the rules at the top of the page)
Click CREATE ACCOUNT
You do not need to share your address or phone number to create an account.

After clicking "CREATE ACCOUNT'', if you want to use the website, read the Clerk Connect terms and conditions and click "I ACCEPT" to accept them.

Orleans Parish subscriptions will be FREE so you just need to select a subscription and press "BUY"
You don't need a credit card or payment attached to your account for viewing only, but printing costs money.

Search Type:
Search by Defendant Name or Case Number (the defendant is the person charged for the crime)
Case Type:
Pick Magistrate or Criminal OR ALL which will return both types of cases (Magistrate court is where initial appearances are made and bond is set).
Set From Date & To Date:
Set the date range so that you only look up cases between two dates
Enter the Defendant's First & Last Name OR Case Number
If you have chosen to search by the Defendant's name, you can type it in, OR type in the Case Number (just the numbers, do not include the letter in front)

What can I find here? Tabs across the top of the page include:
Minutes: Minutes are the closest to what used to be in Docket Master - all the court minute entries which describe all case happenings and events, with dates
Charges: Lists the criminal charges for the Defendant
Court Events: Dates for hearings and events in court
Service Returns: Lists subpoenas attached to the case
Document History: Includes documents attached to the case. *Purchasing documents will be an added cost for the public, and certified copies can also be purchased
Activity History: Shows the history of all case activities, including court events, minutes, and other activities
Warrants: Lists warrants attached to the case
Chronological History: History of all types of case events by date
Attorneys: Lists attorneys assigned to the case

Within a particular case record, you can use a dropdown menu at the top to select different defendants attached to that particular case and go back and forth between them.
Select CRIMINAL & TRAFFIC DAYBOOK to see what is happening in court on a particular day across all sections.
Select COURT CALENDAR which includes a monthly calendar with the court's schedule, where you can click on a particular court section and learn more about what is happening in their courtroom that day.
For criminal legal professionals there will also be E-filing and subscriptions for filing alerts available (filing alerts can also be requested by the public, for a cost).
